About Arts Access

Program Overview

The Arts Access program, established by Arts Services Inc. in 2013, was created to remove the barriers that prohibit many Western New Yorkers from experiencing the arts, including cost, transportation, language, and effort. Any individual or family who receives income-based public assistance in WNY is eligible to apply. ASI also provides free, safe, and accessible transportation through our partners at Hart Transportation to and from partner events.

Arts Access passes can be used at any of our 50+ partner organizations, all of which believe that the arts belong to everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I eligible for an Arts Access pass?

Any individual currently receiving income-based public assistance (SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, HEAP, etc.) is eligible for Arts Access. We ask that you present an active benefit card, with the applicant's name on it, when signing up online, over the phone, or in-person. If you have any questions on whether a form of public assistance is accepted or not, please call (716) 833-3004 x514.

How do I request transportation?

You can register for transportation HERE.

How can I renew when my pass expires?

An expiration date will be printed on your pass. We ask that you reapply for the program each year as a means to confirm your continued eligibility.

You can reapply online, by mail, or in-person at one of our sign-up locations.

When will I receive my pass after applying?

After you register, a welcome packet will be sent to the address listed on your registration form. It will include your physical Arts Access pass, more information about the program, and a list of participating organizations that offer Arts Access tickets.

Where can I use my pass?

Your pass is valid at over 50 arts and culture events and venues across WNY. Find the full list of venues HERE.

How frequently can I use my pass?

For ticketed events, you can use the pass once per event. For example, you can see each show at a theater once during their season. At galleries and museums, you can use the pass once per month.

Some organizations may have additional restrictions. These will be in your Arts Access packet or they’ll tell you when you reserve.

Can I bring a guest with me?

In most instances, you are permitted to bring a guest with you to any Arts Access event or venue. It is not required that your guest is an Arts Access passholder.

Exceptions typically include classes and high-demand, ticketed events. The venue you are interested in visiting will offer information related to their guest policy.
